19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He saved four early break points in a tight third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
